Drain & Sewer Camera Inspection
Drain & Sewer Camera Inspection in Oklahoma City
When several drains keep backing up, we need to know what is happening farther down the line. A sewer camera inspection lets us see the inside of the pipe and find the damaged or blocked section before deciding what needs to be done.
Suntech performs camera inspections for homeowners, businesses, property managers, and home buyers throughout Oklahoma City and the metro. We serve Edmond, Moore, Norman, Yukon, Mustang, and Midwest City too.

What a Camera Inspection Is
For a drain camera inspection, we feed a small waterproof camera through a cleanout or another suitable access point. As the camera moves through the pipe, we watch a live video of the inside of the line.
We can see the pipe material, buildup, joints, and damaged areas. When locating equipment can be used with the camera, we can mark the problem area from above ground and gather location information before repair work begins.
A camera cannot travel through every blockage or collapsed pipe. If the line is obstructed, we may need to clear the drain before we can inspect the section beyond it.
When You Need a Camera Inspection
We recommend looking inside the line when the symptoms point beyond a single fixture. That includes:
- Several drains slowing down at the same time
- Backups that return after the line has been cleared
- Sewage odors coming from drains
- Soggy or sunken areas over a buried sewer line
- A suspected problem with an older cast iron or clay line
A camera is also useful before excavation or other work around a sewer line because we can locate the damaged area first.
Buying a Home in the OKC Metro?
A standard home inspection does not show you the inside of the sewer lateral. If you are buying an older house in Oklahoma City, a sewer scope can show you the condition of that line before closing.
We look for old cast iron or clay pipe, root intrusion, cracks, separated joints, heavy buildup, and standing water. If we find damage, you have information about the sewer before you take ownership instead of discovering it after a backup.
What We Look For
As we move through the line, we look for:
- Tree roots entering through joints or cracks
- Low or bellied sections holding water
- Offset or separated joints
- Cracks, breaks, and collapsed pipe
- Grease, scale, and other buildup
- Cast iron, clay, PVC, and other pipe materials
The footage tells us both what is wrong and how much of the line is affected.
What to Expect During the Visit
Give us clear access to the sewer cleanout or the plumbing area we need to inspect. You do not need to open pipes or prepare the sewer yourself.
Once we have access, we run the camera and watch the footage as it moves through the line. A straightforward inspection may take around an hour, but access problems, blockages, and the length of pipe being inspected can extend the visit.
For the sewer camera inspection cost, we first need to know where we can enter the line and if the camera has a clear path through it. A blockage that has to be cleared before we can continue changes the work involved. Suntech charges a trip fee, and we can explain the charges for your appointment when you schedule.
What Happens Next
We use what we see on the camera to decide what the pipe needs. Grease or heavy buildup calls for hydro jetting. Localized pipe damage may need drain repair or sewer line repair. A badly deteriorated or collapsed line may need a larger replacement.
We show you what we found before discussing the next step. If the line is still in good condition, keeping debris out of it can reduce future trouble. Our tips on how to prevent clogs in drains cover the habits that help keep drains moving.
Why Camera Inspections Matter in OKC
Older homes and commercial buildings around Oklahoma City may still have cast iron or clay sewer lines. Those materials can develop corrosion, root intrusion, cracked joints, or other damage that stays underground until drainage problems start inside.
Heavy rain can make an existing sewer problem easier to notice, especially when a damaged line is already struggling to carry flow. A camera lets us look at the pipe itself instead of treating every recurring backup as another isolated clog.
We perform inspections throughout greater Oklahoma City, including Edmond, Norman, and surrounding metro communities.
